VARIATION IN WATER LEVELS
Lean tissues have higher fluid content than fat tissues.
Males have more lean tissue and more body fluids.
Lean tissue is lost with age and body fluids lose with it.
1. Fluid drunk
2. Water in food eaten
3. Metabolic water: water formed by oxidation of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins.
OUTPUTS ( HOW FLUID IS LOST FROM THE BODY)
2. Water in faeces
3. Water evaporated through the skin and lungs
WATER RECOMMENDED INTAKE
# Adult Men: 3.7 L /day
# Adult Women: 2.7 L/day
